Let me express our congratulations to the Samchuk
Community and Old Market Committee, which has worked

in partnership with municipal authorities and government
agencies such as the Fine Arts Department. Through the
leadership and vision of the local leaders and residents, this
project has catalyzed interest in the historic heritage of
Suphanburi Province and, indeed, in historic market towns all

around the country.
In closing, let me express once again our congratulations
to the project team for their successful efforts, to the

conservation team for their high professionalism, and to the

community of Samchuk and Old Market District for their excellent
cooperation and support.
It is our hope that this Award will continue to inspire
future conservation efforts in Suphanburi and in other heritage

properties and historic towns and neighborhoods all around
Thailand.
It is my great honour at this time to officially present the 2009

Award of Merit for the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards
for Culture Heritage Conservation to the Samchuk Community
and Old Market District.
